Black Don’t Crack… But Just in Case, Here’s Botox!

Updated: Oct 14, 2024

We’ve all heard the saying, “Black don’t crack.” It’s practically a scientific fact at this point. Black women have been blessed with melanin magic that seems to defy the aging process like a well-kept secret. But let’s be honest, ladies: sometimes, even magic needs a little touch-up. Enter Botox—a tiny needle filled with the promise of smoother foreheads and higher cheekbones, and, just maybe, a little less “resting frown face.”

Now, you might be thinking, “Botox? Isn’t that for Hollywood divas or reality TV stars with a permanent look of surprise?” Nope! Black women are jumping on the Botox bandwagon faster than we jump on a good sale at Sephora. And why not? Just because our skin has held up better than most, doesn’t mean we can’t give it a little extra love. Think of Botox like your secret skincare step—right after your shea butter and right before your prayers to Beyoncé.

The Botox Myths

We get it. There are a lot of misconceptions out there. Botox will freeze your face! You won’t be able to express yourself! Newsflash: You can still throw shade without wrinkles. In fact, Botox just smooths the canvas—it doesn’t take away your entire art collection. You can still roll your eyes at nonsense, give the “you tried it” side-eye, and smile when they finally put a decent Black girl sunscreen on the market.

Aging Gracefully, On Our Terms

Black women have spent centuries looking fabulous and not letting anyone in on our secrets. Botox is just one more tool in our ever-expanding beauty arsenal. So if you’re considering a little “wrinkle prevention,” go ahead and treat yourself. We deserve to age however we want—with a little help from our skincare routines, good genes, and a tiny, fabulous syringe.

After all, we’ve already mastered the art of aging gracefully; Botox just makes sure we do it without a crease. So, cheers to smooth foreheads, wrinkle-free smiles, and staying fabulous at every age. Because Black don’t crack… but it’s totally fine to give it a little Botox boost, just in case.
